Where Love Never Leaves

A sweeping take on passion, heartache, and resilience, this novel is a powerful reminder that love, despite all odds, has the power to endure.

About Chestnut Lane

Nan and Colin, children of immigrants growing up in Manhattan’s Washington Heights, meet at a New Year’s Eve party in the 1950s and fall hard for each other. Colin, a rising young, handsome police officer haunted by family demons, and Nan, a stunning, spirited but weighed down by expectation, begin a life full of life hope and passion.

When hardship strikes, they befriend Father Tom Cullen, a young priest torn between faith and desire as his parish neighborhood faces racial unrest. Heartfelt and compelling, this novel explores love and resilience, and how faith can shape the paths we choose.

Chestnut Lane's Book Reviews

A romantic journey that feels deeply personal. It covers the American Dream, the challenges faced by the generations that preceded us and a unique love story powered by faith and second chances. I couldn’t put it down.

I loved it. Chestnut Lane is a beautifully written story that captures the heart and soul of real love, completely imperfect and full of grace. Kevin McGuire paints his characters with such honesty that you feel their triumphs and heartbreak as your own. I recommend it to all.

At seven, a single moment changed everything…
a drunk driver’s mistake left me paralyzed, forcing me to use a wheelchair.

Each summer after, I returned to a New York City hospital for a week of tests, confined to the same room with strangers whose lives could not have been more different from mine. Yet within those walls, something extraordinary happened. Pain and vulnerability stripped away our divisions, leaving only shared humanity. We became a brief, intense family…bound not by circumstance, but by compassion. And as quickly as those bonds formed, they vanished when we returned to the world beyond the hospital doors.

At seventeen, I spent one final week there, with three roommates who taught me about love, loss, and what it means to truly grow up. PATRICK is born from those seven days that changed me forever.
